Manor Lodge

A largely ruined C16th with possible earlier origins complex that was home to George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and his formidable wife, Bess of Hardwick together with their house guest, the Captive Queen herself, Mary Queen Of Scots. Visited by the doomed Cardinal Wolsey this historic site has many tales to tell and now boasts a restored Turret House and new and many faceted Discovery Centre. Numerous views over Sheffield and South Yorkshire that still emphasise that this was the centre of the medieval Sheffield Deer Park with 1200 head of deer amidst mighty oak and walnut trees.
